A Free Three-Week Working Cohort for Florida School Districts

Transform Your Local Community Into a Student-Support Community

Attract the Tutor Pipeline Your Students Need — From the Community You Already Have

In three weeks, we help your district build and activate a repeatable community-based tutor pipeline — giving your team the campaign, assessment, selection, and onboarding tools to attract, identify, and prepare lived-experience tutors without lowering the bar.

The talent is here. The pathway is not.

Not ready to apply? Try the framework — a five-minute exercise that maps what an effective tutor actually does. No email required.

Who it's for

This Is for Districts Ready to Expand Who Gets to Support Students

Florida district leaders who need more student-support capacity than the traditional educator pipeline can supply.

  • Students need more individualized support than current staffing allows.
  • The district keeps recruiting from the same limited talent pool.
  • Community members want to help but lack a visible pathway.
  • Existing screens do not reveal who can build trust and adapt to students.

Who should participate

  • Superintendent or executive sponsor
  • Academic or student-support leader
  • Talent or human-resources leader
  • Community or family-engagement leader

Participation can be adapted for smaller districts, charter networks, and other Florida school systems.

This Is Not For:

  • Teams looking only for a temporary list of workers
  • Teams unwilling to participate in three weeks of shared implementation

The Uncomfortable Truth

Florida Has More Potential Tutors Than Its Current Systems Can See

Retirees, parents, college students, and career changers carry knowledge and lived experience students need, but no clear route into student support. The shortage is real — and part of it is a recognition problem.

The opportunity is not simply to recruit more people. It is to recognize who could become extraordinary and create a credible path for them to contribute.

Transform Your Local Community Into a Student-Support Community

  1. Community
  2. Attract
  3. Identify
  4. Activate
  5. Student Support
A lot of capable people in your area — retirees, college students, parents, career changers — are not talking to students. This is the pipeline that connects them.

What your district builds

The Three Capabilities Your District Builds

Not a planning sprint. Your district attracts real candidates, assesses them, selects suitable people, and moves its first cohort toward readiness.

1

Attract

Mobilize the people and institutions already connected to your district and invite them into meaningful student-support roles.

2

Identify

Determine which interested community members demonstrate the judgment, adaptability, trust-building ability, and motivation required to tutor effectively.

3

Activate

Move suitable people from interest to readiness through a repeatable onboarding and preparation process.

Our approach

What Is Different About Our Approach?

#1

We Build District Capacity, Not Vendor Dependency

Most tutoring conversations end with a district buying people. Your district keeps authority over employment models, compensation, screening, and deployment.

#2

We Implement With You: Working Assets, Not Slide Decks

District teams build alongside people who have recruited, prepared, and supported tutors in real South Florida schools. You leave with working outputs you created, not recommendations.

How We Work Together

We Bring the System. Your District Builds It With Us.

Jump Start brings

  • The framework and facilitation
  • Working templates and implementation tools
  • Tutor-selection methodology
  • Vero’s Lived Experience Assessment and Candidate Decision Reports

Your district brings

  • Two or three decision-makers
  • Knowledge of existing community relationships
  • Approval to launch outreach to its own community

Before Week One

A Short Prework Step Keeps Week One Productive

We send a brief prework packet so the first session starts with building instead of information gathering.

  • Select the priority tutor role
  • Confirm the district participants
  • Identify approval requirements
  • Approve the campaign launch timeline

How it works

Three Weeks. One Live District-Owned Pipeline.

Working sessions, not presentations. Each week builds and activates one part of the pipeline.

Week One

Map and Position

  • Identify your student-support gaps and priority tutor roles
  • Surface overlooked community talent pools and existing stakeholders
  • Write the message most likely to attract them
  • Stand up the recruitment page, interest form, and distribution plan

Week Two

Attract and Assess

  • Launch the community attraction campaign and collect interest
  • Build your district-specific Tutor Success Profile
  • Use Vero’s Lived Experience Assessment with real candidates
  • Review Candidate Decision Reports and structured interview guidance

Week Three

Select and Activate

  • Review candidates and select the strongest potential tutors
  • Move the first cohort into onboarding and preparation
  • Set training, readiness, and first-session checkpoints
  • Stand up engagement, follow-up, and tracking

To achieve the full three-week outcome, participating districts must approve campaign materials and candidate progression within agreed turnaround times. District-controlled requirements — including background checks, fingerprinting, contracting, and final authorization — remain under the district’s authority and may continue beyond the three-week sprint.

The Deliverables

What Your District Walks Away With

Your district begins with a fragmented path into tutoring. It leaves with a live, district-owned pipeline: real community interest, assessed candidates, and a first cohort moving toward readiness.

Week One

Community Talent Map

The overlooked talent pools already connected to your schools, and how to reach each one.

Week One–Two

Recruitment Campaign

A ready-to-launch community attraction campaign: landing page, interest form, and outreach language.

Week Two

Tutor Success Profile

Your district’s own definition of an effective tutor, grounded in judgment rather than résumés.

Week Two

Candidate Decision Reports

What each interested candidate’s decision patterns reveal, plus the questions to probe further.

Week Three

Onboarding Pathway

One repeatable route from interest through assessment, selection, and readiness checkpoints.

Week Three

30-Day Activation Plan

Who does what in the first month, with candidates, owners, and weekly milestones in one view.

Each asset is built with your district’s own priorities, roles, and community.

Why Vero

What Makes an Effective Tutor?

Subject knowledge matters — but tutoring outcomes are often determined by what happens after the lesson stops going as planned.

  • Can the tutor recognize when a student is confused but unwilling to say so?
  • Adapt an explanation without lowering expectations?
  • Build trust while maintaining boundaries?
  • Recover after a difficult interaction?
  • Know when to persist and when to ask for help?

Across more than 100,000 outcomes, 97% of the behavioral patterns we observed fit within 12 recurring areas of judgment — including how people adapt, communicate, build trust, recover, and solve problems when circumstances change.

Vero’s Education Taxonomy turns those consequential moments into observable decision patterns. During the cohort, your district uses them to build a Tutor Success Profile grounded in the realities of its own students and schools.

Vero supplements — not replaces — qualifications, background checks, interviews, and district judgment. It is not a personality test and does not automatically decide who should become a tutor.

A Five-Minute Working Exercise

Try the framework yourself

The Student Support Judgment Map walks you from a student outcome back to the observable behavior behind it. No email required.

Map a Student-Support Role

Your district owns its completed maps, profiles, campaign language, pathway, and activation plan. Vero’s assessment technology, taxonomy, scoring methodology, and underlying intellectual property remain licensed.

Guided use of Vero’s Lived Experience Assessment and Candidate Decision Reports during the sprint is included for the founding cohort. Continued platform access or additional assessments after the sprint are optional and scoped separately.

What comes next

Three Ways Districts Work With Us

This cohort

The Sprint — Done With Others

Jump Start helps your district build and activate the capability to attract, identify, and onboard community-based tutors itself.

Optional next stage

Managed Implementation — Done For You

If your district does not want to operate the pipeline, Jump Start can recruit, assess, prepare, deploy, and manage the tutoring workforce on its behalf.

Optional next stage

Vero Intelligence Layer

Vero helps the district measure tutor judgment, monitor development, and improve selection and performance over time.

No district fee. Your investment is your team’s time.

We are offering the founding cohort at no cost because we want to build it alongside a small group of Florida district leaders and incorporate their feedback before expanding it.

180+ points
Average gains through Jump Start’s flagship SAT program

Across eight Miami-Dade public schools where Jump Start programming launched in March 2026, every participating school moved from a D/F grade to an A/B grade within the following ten weeks, alongside broader school improvement efforts.

Jump Start Tutoring is a K–12 learning and human-capability company with eight years of work alongside families, schools, and districts across South Florida. Our Vero technology extends that work by making the judgment built through lived experience visible.

The South Florida Human Capability Initiative

Every district cohort is part of a longer effort: making South Florida the first place where human capability is identified early, developed intentionally, connected to opportunity, and validated through real outcomes.

Founder

Why This Work Is Personal to Me

Chrissybil “Sybil” Boulin, Founder, Jump Start Tutoring

Chrissybil “Sybil” Boulin

Founder, Jump Start Tutoring

I was a high-school senior with a 4.8 GPA, president of three clubs, and a dream of attending Duke. I believed that if I worked hard enough, my ability would speak for itself.

Then I was waitlisted.

My mother was a Haitian immigrant raising me on her own. She had not inherited an understanding of the SAT system, and private test preparation was not something our family could afford. I had done everything I knew to do — but I did not have access to everything the system expected me to know.

I eventually went from Florida State to Emory and then the University of Cambridge. But I never forgot how easily my trajectory could have been decided before my full capability became visible.

I started Jump Start with $500, no cofounder, and no prior business experience. Eight years later, we hold contracts with Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County Public Schools, and Forbes named me to its 30 Under 30 list for education.

Along the way I learned that the same thing happens to adults. Some of the most effective tutors we have ever hired would never have made it past a résumé screen. Their capability was real — it simply arrived in an unexpected package.

That is what this sprint is for: helping your district recognize capable people already in your community, before a credential or a job history decides for you.

— Chrissybil “Sybil” Boulin

Questions

What District Leaders Ask Us First

Does this replace teachers?

No. Tutors do not replace certified teachers. They expand the number of capable adults available to support students alongside teachers.

Will we have a fully deployed tutor workforce after three weeks?

Your district launches a real campaign, assesses real candidates, selects the strongest, and begins onboarding its first cohort. Background checks, contracting, and final authorization remain yours and may continue beyond the three weeks.

What support is available after the sprint?

Optional and scoped separately. If your team wants help attracting candidates, preparing tutors, or measuring outcomes, Jump Start and Vero can support the next stage. Continuing is never required.

  1. 1Sybil reviews your application within the same week.
  2. 2She emails you personally to set up a short readiness conversation — about 20 minutes, no presentation.
  3. 3If the fit is right, your district receives the cohort schedule and the three working session dates before the January 2027 start.

We use your information only to review your application and contact you about this cohort. We do not sell or share it.

The People Florida’s Students Need May Already Be Here

The next step is learning how to see them, invite them, and prepare them to contribute.
